Newly released details about the Christmas Eve shooting at a Clarksville, Tennessee, Walmart and reported on TTAG reveal the armed citizen who shot a man dangerously wielding a handgun in the store following an altercation acted in defense of his family. According to Clarksville Now, 19-year-old suspect, Labron Gibson, pulled out a gun and held it to a woman’s head, injuring her eye, and threatening to kill her, her husband and their two young children, ages 4 and 2.

The terrifying incident unfolded in the grocery section of the Walmart on Fort Campbell Boulevard, where witnesses heard three gunshots followed by panic as shoppers fled through emergency exits. Security footage showed Gibson waving a firearm and making threats before the woman’s husband drew his own handgun and fired several rounds, striking Gibson multiple times.

Gibson, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, fled the scene and drove himself to a local healthcare facility before being transferred to Nashville for further treatment. Police later recovered Gibson’s firearm from his vehicle and charged him with four counts of aggravated assault.

This wasn’t Gibson’s first run-in with the law. In 2022, at age 17, he was involved in a carjacking after escaping from a Department of Children’s Services transport van.

The Clarksville Police Department has reaffirmed that the armed citizen’s actions were a justified response to an immediate and violent threat. The incident underscores the importance of responsible concealed carry and the critical role it can play in protecting innocent lives when seconds count.
