After much anticipation and speculation, Zero Tolerance has released its first new for 2024 models today. We see the company exploring new genres, with a fixed blade and an automatic knife.

ZT 0004

Zero Tolerance is not a total stranger to the fixed blade category, but certainly, in recent years, folders have been their focus. Fittingly for their return to the category, ZT created something simple, robust, straightforward – a nearly platonic outdoors knife leavened with just enough of the company’s hard use, overbuilt attitude.

What we’re looking at here is a stout, sturdy 4.2-inch drop point with a healthy forward finger choil – situating the 0004 in the “do-all” category, something adept at big and small jobs both. The blade steel here is Cerakote’d CPM-CruWear, a hardworking modern tool steel that will fit the work assignation like the proverbial glove – a work glove in this case, perhaps. There are thick Micarta scales and a leather sheath included.

ZT 0556

Meanwhile, on the folding knife side, we’re seeing the 0556, the only automatic knife in the active ZT lineup. What kind of blade fires out from this button-based bad boy? A 3.35-inch drop point, narrow but not too narrow, and made from CPM MagnaCut, a premium steel that STILL needs no introduction.

Also premium are the handle materials. The 0556’s frame is made from titanium, offset by two elongated carbon fiber inlays. The spaces are blue ano’d to key in to the Zero Tolerance aesthetic, and the small deep carry pocket clip can be reversed to either side (although the firing button is situated for right-hand deployment). The 0556 is an impressively light knife for its size at 2.4 oz.

Both of these knives are available now.
