SHOT Show is always about new items, updated new models and new ways of doing old jobs. This year was no different and while I took the time to see all the new, there were some old favorites that I got to see and hope to show them here in the future.
First and foremost, I know I’m late. I caught a cold leaving Las Vegas, it didn’t want to leave and then it came back. But enough sitting around, here are some of the awesome gear and guns I saw in Vegas.
Range day was Monday and oh the fun we had. Shooting different types of ammo, trying different guns, we even got the opportunity to try a new Red Dot sight that hadn’t been released yet. Rifles and pistols galore, including new offerings from Henry Rifles like their Axe series which I just want one, no real reason other than that, I just want it, and it was fun to shoot.
Optics were also shown off at Range Day including a new AGM Thermal Optic. These have come a long ways in the past few years and I saw the proof that day at the AGM lane. While looking through the scope I saw something different on the screen when looking at the two overlapping targets. It’s not great but what I was seeing is the start of depth perception which is a big step forward.

I spent time on the show floor and at the Palmetto State Armory booth I was able to check out version 1 updates to their Jakl line in .308. They have really listened to shooter feedback and they are putting that information to use. The updates are inside and outside but PSA says they aren’t done yet, this is still a prototype, but SHOT Show feedback has been very positive so far.

Powered and Battery Back-up storage solutions are all the rage but StopBox goes old school with no power required. They also have some pretty awesome skin designs available and come in multiple sizes too.

Apparel is always a big thing, hunting camo options are there in so many designs it gets hard to count. Military camo options from all over the world in different colors and styles. Words like moisture wicking and anti-microbial are so common now I’m surprised when I DON’T see them, especially in T-Shirts. But nothing prepared me for Retro Rifle and their awesome shirts! According to their website they couldn’t find any button down shirts they liked so they started making some. And Why not.

While at the Show, Guy and I were on the clock testing the latest from Notch Cap specially made for us. It’s a full cap, not a Trucker Cap with the mesh back, It’s a quality cap and I’m glad to have a chance to wear it. I’ve a set of sunglasses that fit perfectly in the specially designed notches which is where the name comes from.

In the coming months I’ll have more pictures here or on FaceBook and reviews on gear that comes in from companies we met at SHOT Show so stay tuned, there’s more to come.
Garfield out.
